28 Octomber 1940 is the day that the outnumbered, unequiped and outdated Hellenic Army Refused to lay down their arms and stood their ground on the AXIS invasion. The Hellenic army achieved the first defeat against the Axis forces which till that time where undefeated in every theater of war. The whole world was ecstatic and regained Hope once more. The Hellenic Army's resistance also delayed Hitl er's plan to attack Russia which gave them precious time to organize their defence. The Axis defeated inspired many poem's, paintings and quotes from important people of that era, one of the most known is the quote of Winston Churchill Prime Minister of England.
"Hence we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but that heroes fight like Greeks!"
